British Columbia Voters Cast Ballots in Provincial Election
Voters in British Columbia head to the polls on October 24 to elect members to the Legislative Assembly across 93 districts.
Voters in British Columbia cast ballots on October 24, 2026, to elect Members of the Legislative Assembly across 93 ridings. The snap election was called on September 22 by Matt Eby, leader of the BC NDP, following a period of instability within the Conservative Party of B.C. that included the resignation of former leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay.
Pre-election polling indicates a lead for the Conservative Party of B.C. over the governing BC NDP. An Ipsos poll placed the Conservatives at 44% and the NDP at 39%, while Pallas Data recorded 45% and 39% respectively. An Angus Reid Institute poll showed a narrower three-point gap, with the Conservatives at 46% and the NDP at 43%, which the institute described as a statistical tie.
Analysis suggests the BC NDP faces challenges with voter certainty, as only 54% of its supporters report being very certain in their choice, compared to 73% of Conservative voters. Lorne Doerkson was appointed interim leader of the Conservatives shortly before the election call to unify the party. A majority of 47 seats is required to secure a government majority, with the B.C. Green Party identified as a possible balance-of-power holder.
