Hezbollah Lawmaker Rejects Disarmament and Israeli Framework Agreement

Hassan Fadlallah asserts that Hezbollah will only discuss its weapons after a full Israeli withdrawal and a national consensus is reached.

Hezbollah Member of Parliament Hassan Fadlallah rejected a recent framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, claiming the deal undermines Lebanese sovereignty and legitimizes occupation. Fadlallah asserted that discussions regarding the group's weapons will only occur through national consensus after a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

Fadlallah described the current Israeli war on Lebanon as premeditated, alleging that Israel intends to occupy and destroy areas south of the Litani River to establish settlements, with similar actions allegedly occurring in southern Syria. He further accused the Lebanese government of failing commitments related to the November 27 ceasefire—including the return of displaced residents and the release of prisoners—by targeting Hezbollah and taking measures against Iran under U.S. pressure.

Despite ongoing tensions between Tehran and Washington in the Strait of Hormuz, Fadlallah expressed confidence that U.S.-Iranian negotiations will produce a regional solution. He claimed the Islamic Republic of Iran is working to establish a new regional equation to end Israeli aggression and facilitate reconstruction.

These political developments coincide with active military escalation. Israeli warplanes recently conducted airstrikes in the Bint Jbeil district, specifically targeting the towns of Baraachit and Beit Yahoun, while drones flew over Akkar, Hermel, and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
