Samsung Announces Cross-Platform Galaxy SmartTag 3 Tracker
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a smaller object tracker featuring cross-OS compatibility for Android and iOS devices.
Samsung announced the Galaxy SmartTag 3, a third-generation object tracker that introduces cross-OS compatibility for the first time. The device works with both Android and iOS devices via the SmartThings Find app, though iPhone users will not have access to left-behind alerts or Compass View.
The new tracker features a "squircle" puck design that is 35 percent smaller and 33 percent lighter than the previous pill-shaped model. Technical upgrades include Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, which extends the Compass View directional guidance range to 60 meters. The device is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance and uses a replaceable CR2032 battery, providing up to 550 days of life in normal mode and 790 days in power-saving mode.
Additional software features include movement detection and place notifications for predefined areas. The tracker leverages the Galaxy Find Network of over 900 million devices. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 will launch in South Korea on October 7 and in the United States in early November. It will be available in black and white, priced at $29.99 for a single pack and $99.99 for a four-pack.
