Broadcom Revenue Surges 86% While Qualcomm Faces Slight Decline
Broadcom reported a massive revenue jump driven by AI demand, while Qualcomm saw a 4% dip as it pivots away from smartphone chipsets.
Broadcom Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. reported divergent financial results for the second quarter of 2026, highlighting a shift in the semiconductor industry toward artificial intelligence infrastructure. Broadcom Inc. achieved $29.6 billion in revenue, an 86% increase year-over-year fueled by high demand for high-speed networking equipment and AI accelerators. The company expanded its long-term collaboration with Samsung Electronics and released new enterprise AI software tools, though it now faces antitrust inquiries from the European Union regarding its software licensing practices.
In contrast, Qualcomm Inc. reported $9.9 billion in revenue, representing a 4% year-over-year decline. The company is currently transitioning its business model to decrease its reliance on smartphone chipsets. As part of this strategic shift, Qualcomm established a multi-generational collaboration with Amazon.com to develop AI data center infrastructure and renewed a global patent license agreement with Apple.
