India and Kuwait Launch Joint Defence Committee in New Delhi
India and Kuwait held their first Joint Defence Committee meeting to expand cooperation in military training, research, and the defence industry.
The Government of India and the Government of Kuwait held the inaugural meeting of the India-Kuwait Joint Defence Committee in New Delhi on August 28, 2026. Co-chaired by Joint Secretary Amitabh Prasad and Brigadier General Raed Alsakran, the committee established a framework to strengthen bilateral cooperation across several sectors, including military exercises, training, military medicine, staff talks, and research and development.
This meeting operationalizes a Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation signed in December 2024 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kuwait. That agreement previously upgraded the bilateral relationship between the two nations to a Strategic Partnership.
As part of the diplomatic engagement, the Kuwaiti delegation visited DPSU Bhawan to meet with representatives of the Indian defence industry and paid homage at the National War Memorial.
