Elon Musk's America PAC Spends $500,000 to Support Mike Lawler
Elon Musk's America PAC has spent over $500,000 on digital ads and outreach to help Republican Mike Lawler retain New York's 17th congressional district.
Elon Musk's America PAC has spent more than $500,000 to support Republican incumbent Mike Lawler in New York's 17th congressional district. The funding is directed toward digital advertisements, texting, and canvassing efforts as Lawler faces a challenge from Democrat Cait Conley. This expenditure is part of a broader strategy by Musk, who has contributed $276 million to Republican groups since July to maintain party control of Congress.
Cait Conley, a former head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, has accused Lawler of prioritizing Musk's interests over the necessary regulation of artificial intelligence. Lawler has responded by claiming Conley is an AI industry candidate, citing her previous consulting work for Primer.ai.
While other organizations including the Congressional Leadership Fund and House Majority PAC are spending millions in the district, Lawler's race is the only one in New York receiving support from America PAC this cycle. Lawler's campaign manager, Ciro Riccardi, has denied coordination with the Super PAC, stating the campaign has no control over outside spending.
