Investors Predict China Will Lead in Physical AI

Financial leaders at a Hong Kong summit expressed confidence in China's ability to lead in physical AI and smart manufacturing applications.

Investment bankers and financiers at the 5th Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit in Hong Kong expressed confidence in China's potential to lead in artificial intelligence applications. Participants noted that the AI industry has entered a phase where investors demand tangible productivity and returns on capital expenditure.

Zhang Lei, founder of Hillhouse Investment, stated that AI must demonstrate productivity across industries including health care, services, and consumption. James Lydotes, a New York-based chief investment officer, predicted China would lead in physical AI because of its world-leading advanced manufacturing facilities.

In alignment with these trends, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is drafting policies for next-generation smart manufacturing. These policies aim to integrate AI across the manufacturing chain to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
