David Eby Proposes Millionaire Tax for Health Care Funding
BC NDP Leader David Eby proposed a new tax bracket for individuals earning over $1 million to fund provincial health care services.
British Columbia NDP Leader David Eby announced a proposal to introduce a new tax bracket for individuals earning $1 million or more to fund health care services. Speaking in Comox on Sunday, Eby framed the measure as a way for those earning more to pitch in for public services. The proposal is part of a broader campaign platform for the October 24 snap election that includes price guards for diesel, gasoline, and certain groceries, as well as a new tax on empty condominiums.
As the campaign progresses, Elections BC released the final candidate slates for the province's 93 ridings. The British Columbia Conservatives are the only party fielding a full slate of candidates. The British Columbia New Democratic Party is running 92 candidates, missing one seat in Peace River North due to paperwork issues. Other competing parties include the Greens, CentreBC, and OneBC.
Representatives for the British Columbia Conservatives stated that their ability to field candidates in every riding reflects strong momentum and enthusiasm across the province.
