Broadcom AI Revenue Surges 221 Percent in Fiscal Third Quarter
Broadcom reported a 221 percent increase in AI semiconductor revenue, contrasting with Intel's high-risk turnaround efforts in the foundry market.
Broadcom Inc reported a 221 percent year-over-year increase in AI semiconductor revenue for its fiscal third quarter of 2026. This growth was driven by strong demand for AI networking and custom accelerators, as the company develops specialized chips for hyperscalers to enhance performance and lower power consumption. The company also expanded its enterprise software footprint through the acquisition of VMware.
In contrast, Intel is attempting a business turnaround centered on heavy investments in the Intel 18A process and Intel Foundry. However, Intel faces significant execution risks and competitive pressure in the foundry market. Financial metrics highlight a disparity in market valuation, with Intel carrying a forward price-to-earnings ratio of approximately 51, while Broadcom maintains a ratio of about 18.
While Broadcom remains heavily dependent on a small group of large customers, its established networking expertise and AI infrastructure position it as a lower-risk option during the current semiconductor sell-off.
