Randy Fernando Launches Maximum With $30 Million Seed Funding

Randy Fernando launched Maximum, an AI-native operating system for banks, after raising $30 million in seed funding to replace legacy banking infrastructure.

Randy Fernando launched Maximum, an AI-native operating system for banks, after emerging from stealth with $30 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by Charles River Ventures, with additional participation from Pear VC, Restive, Plug and Play Ventures, and Anthemis.

Maximum is designed to replace fragmented legacy core banking infrastructure currently provided by firms such as Fiserv, Jack Henry, and FIS. The new platform enables banks to deploy AI agents for reconciliation and operational workflows in real time. Fernando, who previously sold Vault to Acorns and Power Finance to Marqeta, is pursuing a strategy that requires customers to undergo full end-to-end migrations rather than utilizing the software as a supplemental system.

Maximum intends to use the seed capital to expand its operations and engineering teams and accelerate product development.
