645 Venture Partner Warns of AI Investment Bubble

Nnamdi Okike warns that inflated valuations and a disconnect between AI spending and revenue signal a potential market bubble.

Nnamdi Okike, a co-founding partner of 645 Venture, warns that the artificial intelligence sector is exhibiting signs of a bubble characterized by inflated valuations and a disconnect between capital expenditure and actual revenue. He identifies several red flags in the current market, including the rapid frequency of funding rounds and the prevalence of massive Series A rounds that mirror late-stage pre-IPO valuations.

Okike argues that many investors are relying on the greater fool theory rather than business fundamentals. He points to a significant imbalance among the Magnificent Seven tech giants, noting that while these companies have increased capital expenditures to an estimated 560 billion dollars this year, they have generated only roughly 35 billion dollars in revenue.

According to Okike, these conditions typically precede a market correction. Such a shift would force AI companies to prioritize profitability, reduce the size of venture funding rounds, and increase the efficiency of their model training processes.
