Smith-Midland Wins $2.2 Million Newport News Shipbuilding Contract

Smith-Midland Corporation secured a $2.2 million contract to provide precast concrete products for a new operations and office facility at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia. The facility will serve as an operational headquarters for shipbuilders and naval personnel to support United States Navy aircraft carrier inactivation programs.

Smith-Midland will manufacture SlenderWall architectural precast panels, precast components, and stair systems at its facility in Midland, Virginia. Working in partnership with Hourigan Construction, the company expects to begin production in October 2026, with installation scheduled to start in November 2026.

Matthew Smith, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Smith-Midland, stated that the contract demonstrates the value of delivering complete precast solutions for facilities where durability, performance, and construction efficiency are essential.
