AI Cloud Startups Secure Billions Amid Market Fragmentation

Hyperbolic raised $30 million to unify AI cloud providers while Argentum AI negotiates $5 billion in financing to expand chip capacity.

AI infrastructure startups are securing significant capital to manage and expand compute capacity as the neocloud market fragments. Hyperbolic, an AI chip marketplace and software startup, raised $30 million in a Series A-1 round led by Walden Catalyst, bringing its total funding to $50 million. The company provides software to rent and manage resources across 30 neocloud providers and plans to launch a compute resale system. CEO Jasper Zhang reports the company is breaking even and targeting $150 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of the year.

Simultaneously, Argentum AI is negotiating a $5 billion financing deal with a private credit firm to purchase AI chips. The Chicago-based firm intends to use the funds for chips leased to customers without investment-grade ratings and to support a data center in Poland established with DL Invest Group and Boosteroid. Argentum AI reports over $12 billion in contracted revenue.

These moves come as credit markets tighten for neocloud providers. Other industry players are pursuing similar large-scale financing, including Nebius, which secured a $3.5 billion facility from Citi, and SpaceX, which obtained $40 billion in debt via an Apollo Global Management affiliate.
