Anthropic Seeks 1 Gigawatt Data Center Lease from Stream

Anthropic is in early-stage discussions to lease up to 1 gigawatt of data center capacity from Stream Data Centers. The data center developer is majority-owned by Apollo Global Management.

This potential agreement follows reports from June indicating the AI developer signed more than 12 preliminary agreements to secure U.S. data centers with a combined capacity exceeding 1 GW. To cover the costs of these lease payments, Anthropic is reportedly seeking financial backing from Google.

Anthropic has not confirmed or denied the reports regarding the Stream Data Centers negotiations or the funding request to Google.
