BJP Names Eight Rajya Sabha Candidates for Uttar Pradesh
The Bharatiya Janata Party approved eight candidates for the 2026 Rajya Sabha biennial elections in Uttar Pradesh, including two women.
The Bharatiya Janata Party approved eight candidates for the 2026 Rajya Sabha biennial elections from Uttar Pradesh on October 5. The nominees include Dharampal Singh, Radhakant Ojha, Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, Priyanka Singh Rawat, Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan, and Shruti Gangwar.
Nominees Shruti Gangwar and Priyanka Rawat described the inclusion of two women on the list as a recognition of women's leadership and dedicated party work. Dharampal Singh pledged to raise the voice of the people in the Upper House. Notably, Union Ministers Hardeep Puri and BL Verma were not nominated for the house.
The Election Commission of India has scheduled polling for October 16 for 11 seats across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In response to the BJP's list, the Samajwadi Party named Professor Ramgopal Yadav and Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani as its candidates from Uttar Pradesh.
