Organization of Turkic States Monitors Kazakhstan Kurultay Elections

The Organization of Turkic States conducted an observation mission for the first elections to the Kurultay, a newly established unicameral legislative body in Kazakhstan. The mission followed recent constitutional reforms and included officials from the OTS Secretariat and election commissions from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.

Deputy Secretary-General Nuru Guliyev announced during a briefing in Astana that the mission visited 33 polling stations. He characterized the electoral process as an opportunity to strengthen public participation and citizen trust. The mission reported finding no evidence of interference by law enforcement or administrative agencies, stating that necessary measures were implemented to ensure citizens could freely express their will.
