Suzuki Plans European Launch of Electric Kei Minicar by 2027

Suzuki Motor plans to export an electric kei-class minicar to Europe by 2027 to reverse declining sales in the region.

Suzuki Motor plans to launch an electric kei-class minicar in Europe as early as 2027 to combat a 15% decline in European sales. The export model will be based on the Vision e-Sky, which is scheduled for release in Japan in November 2026.

The vehicles will be manufactured at a facility in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan, and will feature batteries from a supplier linked to BYD. Suzuki is targeting the United Kingdom and Italy as primary markets, with expected pricing in the UK falling below £20,000.

The company is attempting to capitalize on a shift in the European market where battery electric passenger vehicle sales recently surpassed petrol vehicle sales over a six-month period. However, the model will likely be ineligible for subsidies established by the European Union in 2025 for small electric vehicles because the cars are produced outside the union.
