NITI Aayog Launches DPI@2047 Roadmap for $30 Trillion Economy

NITI Aayog launched the 'DPI@2047 for Viksit Bharat' strategic roadmap in New Delhi to transition India toward a $30 trillion economy by 2047. Developed in partnership with Deloitte and the EkStep Foundation, the plan aims for a per capita income of $18,000 through a two-phased evolution of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The first phase, DPI 2.0 (2025–2035), focuses on capability building and livelihood-led growth, while DPI 3.0 (2035–2047) targets broad-based prosperity via grassroots innovation.

The roadmap emphasizes a shift from basic digital inclusion to productivity-led growth, identifying eight sectoral transformations including health, education, and agriculture. For the 2026-2027 cycle, the plan prioritizes agriculture and MSMEs through pilot projects in six champion states and union territories. This decentralized, state-led execution model positions the Government of India and NITI Aayog as catalysts providing funding and coordination.

To support this transition, the plan advocates for the integration of AI and frontier technologies and the creation of a neutral ecosystem body by 2027 to manage global engagement. Projections suggest these DPI initiatives could increase their contribution to the national GDP from 1% currently to 4% by 2030. Institutional oversight will be managed through a framework led by NITI Aayog and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
