Aramco and NESR Partner for Saudi Lithium Project

Aramco and National Energy Services Reunited signed a $200 million agreement to launch Saudi Arabia's first battery-grade lithium production project by 2027.

Aramco and National Energy Services Reunited Corp. (NESR) signed an agreement on October 8, 2026, to execute the 2027 Lithium Demonstration Project in Saudi Arabia. The turnkey project is the first of its kind in the region and aims to produce 2,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate per year.

The contract is valued at approximately $200 million over five years. The project will utilize the LiThara platform developed by NESR, which integrates carbonation technology, direct lithium extraction, and pre-treatment.

Production and commissioning are scheduled for late 2027. The partnership combines the subsurface expertise of Aramco with the modular extraction solutions provided by NESR to address global energy transition demands.
