Israel Destroys 18,000 Lebanese Homes as IDF Uncovers Hezbollah Bases

The Israel Defense Forces destroyed thousands of homes in southern Lebanon while claiming to dismantle a vast network of Hezbollah military facilities embedded in civilian areas.

The Israel Defense Forces uncovered thousands of Hezbollah facilities embedded within civilian villages in southern Lebanon, including command centers, launch sites, observation posts, and underground infrastructure. The IDF stated that Hezbollah strategically placed these sites within civilian areas over several years to endanger the Lebanese population while threatening Israeli soldiers and civilians.

These military operations have resulted in the destruction of nearly 18,000 homes and civilian structures, such as mosques, pharmacies, and cafes. A United Nations Development Programme assessment and satellite imagery indicate that Israeli forces have occupied a six-mile-wide strip of Lebanese territory and conducted systematic demolitions. The Israeli Cabinet has defended these actions as strategic measures necessary to remove Hezbollah threats.

Among the destroyed properties are homes and businesses owned by American citizens in villages such as Burj Rahal, Hasbaya, Yaroun, and Aynata. In response, the Arab American Civil Rights League is preparing a civil lawsuit against the United States government. The organization seeks financial compensation for affected Americans and is demanding that Congress divest aid from the Israeli military units involved in the demolitions.
