Liberia Launches Social Protection Strategy as Liberty Party Rebrands
The World Bank commended Liberia's new national social protection strategy while the Liberty Party began constructing a new headquarters and launching a nationwide rebranding effort.
The World Bank Group has commended Liberia for completing its National Social Protection Policy and Strategy 2026–2030. This framework aims to transition the country from a reliance on externally financed initiatives toward a sustainable, nationally owned system. Georgia Wallen, the World Bank Group Country Manager for Liberia, emphasized that the strategy must include sustainable domestic financing and shock-responsive mechanisms to protect vulnerable populations from health, climate, and economic crises. The new system will utilize the Liberia Household Social Registry and digital payments to increase transparency and efficiency.
In separate political developments, the Liberty Party held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new headquarters in Grand Bassa County. Political Leader Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence announced a nationwide rebranding and membership drive intended to expand the party's organizational structure. Currently the third-largest political party in the country, the Liberty Party is seeking to strengthen its independent identity.
Vice Chairman for Political Affairs Abraham Darius Dillon stated that the party was not established to merely endorse other candidates. He asserted that the organization intends to seek national leadership and govern the country in the future.
