Apple Agrees to $250 Million Siri False Advertising Settlement

A judge granted preliminary approval on July 17 for a $250 million settlement reached in May by Apple Inc. to resolve a class action lawsuit centered on false advertising. The lawsuit alleged the company misled consumers by promising personalized Siri and Apple Intelligence features that were unavailable at the launch of the iPhone 16 and specific iPhone 15 models.

Approximately 36 million customers may be eligible for payouts between $25 and $95 per device. Eligibility applies to those who purchased an iPhone 16, 16E, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 15 Pro, or 15 Pro Max between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.

Apple stated it resolved the matter to remain focused on delivering innovative products and services to its users. A final approval hearing is scheduled for September 29, 2027, with payments expected within 60 days of that date. The Clarkson Law Firm noted that the court's preliminary approval indicates the proposed terms are sufficient to move forward, though it does not yet constitute a final ruling on fairness.
