US-India Business Council Urges India to Ease Regulations
Atul Keshap calls for greater regulatory predictability and openness in India to attract more foreign direct investment ahead of the B20 summit.
The President of the US-India Business Council, Atul Keshap, stated that India's strong economic growth is prompting global investors to reassess the country's prospects. Keshap highlighted India's 7.8 percent GDP growth and its objective of becoming a $30 trillion economy by 2047 as primary drivers of current investor momentum.
While praising the Government of India for its tax reforms and infrastructure push, Keshap emphasized that further regulatory opening and policy predictability are essential to unlock more foreign direct investment, specifically in capital market flows. He noted that businesses require long-term clarity on regulatory and tax parameters before committing significant capital to large-scale projects.
These remarks come as the US-India Business Council prepares to host the B20 in Washington, D.C. Keshap suggested that cooperation among the world's largest economies in the B20 and G20 is necessary to ensure global growth.
