Hong Kong Airport Passenger Traffic Rises 11.7 Percent

Financial Secretary Paul Chan reported that Hong Kong International Airport handled 32.8 million passengers in the first half of 2026.

Paul Chan Mo-po reported that Hong Kong International Airport saw passenger traffic increase 11.7 percent year-on-year during the first half of 2026, totaling 32.8 million passengers. The airport handled over 200,000 aircraft movements in the first six months, marking a 4.4 percent increase from the previous year.

Total visitors to the city reached 31.2 million in the first seven months of 2026, a 12 percent annual increase. Chan attributed this growth to the city hosting various events to consolidate its status as an international aviation hub.

Looking toward the second half of the year, the city expects more than 100 events to attract over 1.85 million visitors. These activities are projected to generate approximately HK$5.9 billion in spending and HK$3.3 billion in economic value.
