Google Releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 for Pixel

Google released the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 update for Pixel devices, introducing new Quick Settings customization and security protections against call-forwarding fraud.

Google released the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 update for eligible Pixel devices on August 14, 2026. The update targets a wide range of hardware, including the Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, and the Pixel 6a through 10 series, and includes the August 5 security patch.

The update introduces a Quick Settings layout editor that allows users to reorder the media player, brightness bar, and Quick Settings tiles into six different combinations. While users cannot yet adjust the size of these elements, the tool is intended to improve accessibility. Other UI enhancements include a native App Lock feature, expanded blur effects for notifications and lock screen shortcuts, and a theming slider to fine-tune hue and color styles.

To combat social engineering scams and fraud, the update implements security hardening against programmatic call forwarding. This includes API restrictions for the sendUssdRequest() function and a new OS-level confirmation dialog for manual call-forwarding codes. Google also used this build to resolve stability issues, specifically correcting battery capacity warnings and visual corruption in the notification shade.

These features are currently rolling out to the public beta program as part of the preparation for the December Feature Drop. A stable public release is expected in December 2026.
