APC Accuses Osun Government of Vote-Buying via Palliatives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused the state government of executing a vote-buying scheme by distributing N20,000 palliative payments to residents and workers. The party alleges that the timing of these disbursements, occurring shortly before the August 15 governorship election, is a calculated attempt to influence public support.

Oluremi Omowaiye, head of the APC Campaign Council’s Media and Publicity Committee, specifically cited payments to National Youth Service Corps members as evidence of the scheme. The APC further claims the administration prioritized these palliatives while neglecting N6 billion in pension remittances and gratuity arrears.

The government of Ademola Adeleke defended the payments, describing them as welfare measures to assist workers facing economic hardships prior to the implementation of a new minimum wage.
