Action Alliance Gives INEC 48 Hours to Include Candidates

The Action Alliance political party issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) demanding the inclusion of its candidates in the published list for the 2027 general elections. National Chairman Kenneth Udeze stated that candidates validly nominated by the party's National Executive Committee were omitted, which he described as a violation of the Electoral Act 2022.

Udeze asserted that the omission ignores a Court of Appeal ruling that affirmed the legitimacy of his leadership. He characterized the commission's actions as an attack on the rule of law and internal party democracy, suggesting that the agency is acting with impunity.

The party has threatened to pursue legal remedies, including contempt proceedings, if the commission fails to publish a revised list by the deadline. The Action Alliance also called upon civil society organizations and the media to monitor the situation.
