American billionaires have contributed over $433 million to the 2026 midterms, with the vast majority of funding supporting Republican candidates and conservative organizations.

American billionaires have funneled more than $433 million into the 2026 midterm elections, with approximately 79% of those funds directed toward Republican candidates and conservative groups. An analysis by Americans for Tax Fairness using Federal Election Commission data through March 1 shows that the 50 largest billionaire-spending families contributed $344.3 million to right-leaning causes.

Elon Musk emerged as a leading individual donor, contributing at least $90 million as of June 2026 to various Republican efforts, including the campaigns of Greg Abbott and Vivek Ramaswamy. The super PAC MAGA Inc. served as the primary beneficiary of these contributions, receiving $89 million. Other significant donors include Wall Street financier Jeff Yass, who provided more than $55 million to Republican causes.

Funding for Democratic candidates remained significantly lower in aggregate. While George Soros contributed roughly $102.8 million, the overall spending gap widened in the first half of 2026, with Republican-leaning donors providing $880 million compared to $290 million from Democratic-leaning donors.
