SEBI Clears Jio Platforms for Potential $4 Billion IPO
The Securities and Exchange Board of India approved the IPO proposals of seven companies, including Jio Platforms, which seeks a valuation exceeding $100 billion.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India issued observation letters between August 24 and August 28, 2026, clearing the initial public offering proposals of seven companies. The most prominent among these is Jio Platforms, the digital and telecommunications arm of Reliance Industries Ltd., which plans to issue 270 million new shares to raise approximately ₹27,500 crore, or up to $4 billion.
Jio Platforms intends to use the net proceeds primarily to repay debt and for general corporate purposes. The offering represents a 2.9% equity dilution and seeks a valuation exceeding $100 billion, which would surpass the 2024 Hyundai Motor India Ltd. IPO of $3.3 billion. Mukesh Ambani first proposed the public listing in 2019 and had previously targeted a June 2026 date before filing draft documents on June 19.
Other companies receiving regulatory clearance include Paras Healthcare, which proposes an IPO of up to ₹1,800 crore, and Delhi-based Bharat PET, which seeks up to ₹760 crore. Additional approvals were granted to Sadbhav Futuretech, M K Sons Fine Jewels, Paramotor Digital Technology, and Pushp Brand (India). Under current regulatory rules, these companies have between 12 and 18 months to launch their offerings.
