Ukraine and Russia Launch Reciprocal Strikes on Ports and Industry

The Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian military escalated hostilities on July 24, 2026, through coordinated strikes on maritime hubs and industrial sites. Ukraine launched a massive air assault involving 571 drones and missiles, hitting targets as far as Kirov, 1,300 kilometers from the border. The barrage disrupted transportation at ten Russian airports, including Pulkovo International Airport, and forced logistics firm Wildberries & Russ to suspend operations in St. Petersburg.

In response, the Russian Defense Ministry declared its exclusive economic zone dangerous for navigation, affecting the export hub of Novorossiysk. This maritime instability forced the Caspian Pipeline Consortium to suspend shipments and reduced oil production in Kazakhstan.
