Little Giant Recalls 3.6 Million Ladders Over Fall Hazard

Little Giant is recalling 3.6 million ladders sold since 2015 after lock failures caused sudden retractions and serious injuries, including brain damage.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Little Giant Ladder Systems announced a voluntary recall of approximately 3.6 million ladders sold between December 2015 and October 2026. The recall affects multiple models featuring Rapid Locks, including the Adjustable Fortress 2.0, Conquest 2.0, Dark Horse 2.0, Epic, King Kombo XT, Leveler, MegaLite, MegaLite+, Multi, Quantum, and Vector. Affected units lack an orange rectangular QC sticker on the rail above the locks.

The recall follows reports that the black and orange locks may fail to engage fully, causing the ladders to retract suddenly. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 39 instances of lock malfunctions and 25 reports of retractions. These failures resulted in 35 injuries, with reports including skull fractures, traumatic brain injuries, vision loss, and broken bones.

Products were sold nationwide through retailers including Lowe's, Costco, and Amazon. Little Giant advises customers to stop using the affected ladders immediately. The company is offering a choice between a repair kit, a replacement ladder, or a full refund. For those using repair kits, the company will provide further evaluation if lubrication and engagement fail to resolve the lock issue.
