Samsung Invests $1 Billion in Helix AI Infrastructure

Samsung committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, bringing the KKR-backed firm's total secured capital to over $11 billion for AI data center development.

Samsung committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, an artificial-intelligence infrastructure firm backed by KKR and Nvidia. This investment increases the total secured capital for Helix to over $11 billion.

Established in June by a KKR-led consortium that includes Nvidia, the Kuwait Investment Authority, and Vistra, Helix develops next-generation data centers, power generation, and transmission to meet the rising demands of hyperscalers. Helix intends to utilize Samsung's expertise in construction, energy storage, cooling, and advanced technology to scale its infrastructure development.

Adam Selipsky, Chief Executive and co-founder of Helix, characterized the investment as a "vote of confidence" in the firm's strategy to provide complex AI infrastructure at speed. The move aligns with a broader trend of massive AI investments in South Korea, including a $2 trillion government-led initiative to build domestic AI capabilities and separate KKR investments in Samsung SDS and SK Telecom.
