UAE and India Expand Partnership into Advanced Technology
Omran Sharaf announced that India and the UAE will expand bilateral cooperation into the digital economy and advanced research to double trade by 2032.
UAE BRICS Sherpa and Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology Omran Sharaf announced that the next phase of India-UAE relations will focus on advanced technology, research, and the digital economy. Speaking on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit, Sharaf stated that the two nations intend to expedite existing cooperation while exploring emerging fields driven by technological advancement.
This strategic expansion builds upon the 2022 Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has already pushed bilateral trade to over USD 100.06 billion in FY 2024-25. The two countries have established a target to double this trade volume to USD 200 billion by 2032.
The UAE currently stands as the largest export destination for India among its trade agreements. In FY 2025-26, Indian merchandise exports to the UAE totaled USD 37,359.11 million.
