Meta and Dolby Partner to Integrate Spatial Audio and Vision

At the Meta Connect event on Tuesday, Meta and Dolby Laboratories announced a partnership to integrate high-end audio and visual technologies across Meta's hardware and platforms. The collaboration focuses on bringing Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision to a wider range of consumer devices and social experiences.

Meta AI glasses will be the first global consumer device capable of capturing audio in Dolby Atmos, allowing users to record and share spatial audio content directly on Instagram. This expansion builds on the 2025 integration of Dolby Vision support for the social platform.

Looking forward, Meta's next VR device, scheduled for a 2027 launch, will support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for media such as concerts, sports, and movies. John Couling of Dolby Laboratories stated that the goal is to provide experiences that feel more emotionally engaging as the boundaries between social sharing and entertainment continue to blur.
