U.S. Marine Corps Exceeds Fiscal Year 2026 Recruitment Goals

The U.S. Marine Corps exceeded its 2026 recruitment targets, joining other military branches in a department-wide rebound in enlistment numbers.

The United States Marine Corps exceeded its fiscal year 2026 recruitment goals, enlisting 31,250 new recruits, 1,672 officers, and 3,503 prior-service reserve Marines. The service described the results as a historic, department-wide rebound and has already contracted more than half of its mission for fiscal year 2027.

Commanding General Walker M. Field attributed the success to a disciplined recruiting force and a favorable environment linked to the 250th birthday of the United States. He noted that the results were emblematic of young Americans choosing to serve the nation.

Other military branches also met or exceeded their targets. The United States Navy added 45,112 sailors, while the United States Air Force and United States Space Force enlisted 31,950 airmen and 730 guardians, respectively. The United States Army recruited 61,500 soldiers, with its Reserve and Special Forces meeting their goals for the first time in more than a decade.
