Amazon India Invests $300 Million to Expand Logistics Network

Amazon India is investing over ₹2,800 crore ($300 million) to expand its operations network in preparation for the upcoming festive season. The expansion includes the launch of 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres, and at least 150 last-mile delivery stations, which increases the company's total storage capacity in India by 50% to 64 million cubic feet.

To manage the expected surge in demand, the company is creating 1.6 lakh temporary jobs across 400 cities. Much of this growth is targeted at non-metro areas, with new sort centres established in Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Meerut, Ramanagar, Raipur, and Varanasi. Additionally, the company is opening first-time delivery stations in 12 cities, including Bhojpur and Wokha. These new facilities will be managed by third-party logistics partners.
