The Government of Türkiye will host the 31st UN Climate Change Conference from November 9 to 20, 2026, with Australia leading the negotiations.
The Government of Türkiye will host the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change from November 9 to 20, 2026, at the Antalya Expo Center. While Türkiye holds the COP Presidency, the Parliament of Australia will lead the negotiations. The summit arrives as the UN Environment Programme warns that global warming is expected to exceed the 1.5°C goal established by the Paris Agreement.
Participating nations, including Tanzania, intend to use the summit to advance national resilience strategies. Tanzania will present its inclusive climate response for Vision 2050, aiming to integrate green development into its long-term national agenda.
Supporting the diplomatic efforts, the World Meteorological Organization will provide scientific observations on record-breaking extremes and El Niño, including the launch of the State of Climate Update 2026. Meanwhile, the World Council of Churches will deploy a delegation of church leaders, youth, and Indigenous people to advocate for the phase-out of fossil fuels and the implementation of grant-based climate finance for frontline communities.
