Chief Minister DK Shivakumar met with Tibetan Parliament member Chopepal Thupten to discuss inclusivity and harmony following Tibetan celebrations of India's 80th Independence Day.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar met with Tibetan Parliament member Chopepal Thupten at his residence in Bengaluru on August 18. During the meeting, Shivakumar emphasized that Karnataka would continue to uphold values of harmony, inclusivity, and mutual respect, stating that the state's strength lies in its diversity.
This diplomatic engagement followed celebrations on August 15, where the Central Tibetan Administration marked India's 80th Independence Day in Dharamshala. During the event, CTA President Sikyong Penpa Tsering hoisted the Indian national flag and expressed solidarity with the Indian people. Tsering noted that India's independence serves as an inspiration for Tibetans who remain deprived of basic freedoms under Chinese rule.
