DeepSeek Hires First CFO to Prepare for IPO
DeepSeek plans to appoint Yan Wentao as its first chief financial officer as the AI startup prepares for a potential public listing in Shanghai.
AI startup DeepSeek is transitioning from a research lab into a conventional corporate structure by hiring its first chief financial officer. The company plans to appoint Yan Wentao, a partner at GL Ventures, to the role to leverage his deal-making experience as the firm prepares for a potential initial public offering.
DeepSeek has already engaged CITIC Securities to manage a possible listing on the STAR Market in Shanghai. The company is currently conducting a fundraising round that values the startup at approximately 500 billion yuan, or 74 billion US dollars. This follows a previous capital raise of 7.4 billion US dollars in June.
Founded in 2023, the company is controlled by founder Liang, who initially financed the venture through his quantitative hedge fund, High-Flyer.
