Cleveland Fed President Forecasts Slow Inflation Decline
Beth Hammack stated inflation is unlikely to hit the 2% target by next year and advocated for a rate hike to combat price pressures.
Beth Hammack, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, stated on Thursday that inflation is unlikely to return to the central bank's 2% target by next year. In an interview with Fox Business Network, Hammack forecast that inflation will end the current year around 3% and potentially reach the mid-2% range at best in the following year.
Hammack advocated for a rate hike to combat persistent high inflation. She noted that the Federal Reserve's primary price pressure gauge rose 3.7% year-over-year in July, supporting her position that further monetary tightening is necessary.
