Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis signed a licensing agreement with Abogen Biosciences on October 2, 2026, to acquire exclusive worldwide rights to ABO2203. The experimental mRNA-based therapy is designed to treat autoimmune diseases by targeting and removing B cells.
Under the terms of the deal, Abogen Biosciences will receive an upfront payment of $575 million. The agreement includes potential milestone payments totaling $7.2 billion, contingent upon the therapy meeting specific development, regulatory, and commercial achievements.
The total potential value of the transaction is approximately $7.8 billion, a figure that includes options for Novartis to license additional programs utilizing Abogen's RNA technology. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
