Cargo Ship Sinks in Hormuz as Israel Strikes Gaza
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported a cargo ship sank in the Strait of Hormuz while Israel conducted a strike in Gaza City.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps navy reported that a cargo ship carrying 2,500 containers sank Wednesday morning after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state television characterized the vessel's route as "illegal and dangerous," noting the ship caught fire before sinking. The identity of the vessel and the status of its crew remain unknown, and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations has not verified the incident.
In Gaza City, the Israeli military conducted a strike on an apartment targeting a Hamas militant. Shifa hospital officials reported that the operation killed one woman. The strike occurred during a fragile ceasefire; Gaza's Health Ministry reports more than 1,490 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the agreement began.
Separately, the government of Iran executed Ali Sina Mostafavi. Authorities accused Mostafavi of conducting an "armed operation" in Kerman in support of exiled former Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi.
