Fermi Inc. Contracts CBRE to Manage Project Matador Data Center

Fermi Inc. signed a five-year management agreement with CBRE to serve as the exclusive operations and maintenance provider for building one, the first data center at the Project Matador campus in the Texas Panhandle. Under the terms of the deal, CBRE will manage building systems, fire protection, and cooling to maintain reliability and uptime for the AI-focused facility. The agreement includes options for five-year renewals and the potential to add future buildings to the framework.

Project Matador is a private power and compute campus located near Amarillo, Texas, designed to deliver large-scale power through a private grid. The project has recently reached several milestones, including the arrival of Siemens Energy turbines, a power alliance with Hillcore Energy Capital Corporation, and a binding lease with its first customer, TensorWave.

Fermi CEO Lee McIntire stated that the company is locking in partners early to ensure construction and operations are safe and efficient. CBRE's Data Center Solutions business noted that early mobilization is essential to ensure the campus is ready to perform from the day it opens.
