Indiana Early Voting Turnout Rises Ahead of Midterms

Indiana reports an increase in early voting ballots for the 2026 midterms, driven by a surge in in-person turnout despite a sharp decline in mail-in voting.

Early voting turnout in Indiana has increased one week before the November 3 midterm elections. A total of 476,802 ballots were submitted, marking an increase of 61,345 compared to the same period before the 2022 midterms.

The growth is primarily driven by a surge in in-person early voting, which rose from 296,792 to 405,786 ballots. In contrast, mail-in voting declined by over 43 percent, dropping from 113,808 ballots in 2022 to 64,721 in 2026.

Data from Marion County mirrors these statewide trends. In Indianapolis, in-person early voting nearly doubled, increasing from 20,789 to 40,867 ballots.
