The Hungarian Central Statistical Office reported that industrial production growth in Hungary accelerated to 8.7 percent year-on-year in August. This figure marks a sharp rebound from the 4.7 percent increase recorded in July, although it remains lower than the 10.1 percent growth seen in June.
Growth was primarily driven by the manufacture of transport equipment and the production of computers, electronic, and optical products. On a seasonally and working-day-adjusted basis, production rose 1.0 percent compared to the previous month.
Retail performance diverged from industrial gains. Annual retail sales growth moderated to 2.4 percent in August, falling from 4.9 percent in July. This decline included a notable 4.8 percent drop in sales at specialized food, beverage, and tobacco stores.
