Oman and Angola Sign Multiple Bilateral Cooperation Agreements

Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman concluded a two-day royal visit to the Republic of Angola on September 18, 2026, resulting in a series of bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening political and economic ties. During a meeting with President João Manuel Lourenço at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, the two leaders presided over the signing of five agreements, eight memoranda of understanding, and an executive programme.

The agreements cover a wide range of sectors, including the elimination of double taxation, mutual visa exemptions for diplomatic and service passports, and cooperation in defense industries and air transport. The memoranda of understanding focus on investment promotion, agriculture, and energy, specifically highlighting a 500-megawatt renewable energy project featuring battery storage. Additionally, the two nations signed a contract to expand and rehabilitate the water distribution network in Luanda Province.

The visit included formal ceremonies, such as the inspection of the Guard of Honour. Following his departure, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik sent a cable of thanks to President Lourenço, praising the outcomes of the visit and the hospitality he received during his stay.
