US Governors Honor India's 80th Independence Day

Governors from South Dakota, Montana, and Alaska extended formal greetings to India to mark the nation's 80th Independence Day. The messages were coordinated and shared via video by the Consulate General of India in Seattle to highlight expanding people-to-people connections between the United States and India.

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden noted the historical significance of India's freedom from British rule. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte praised the Indian and Indian-American community for their contributions to the state's cultural, educational, and economic life, specifically citing a commitment to innovation and learning.

Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy paid tribute to the courage of India's freedom fighters. He noted that the Indian-American community has strengthened Alaska through its impact on the state's healthcare system, businesses, schools, and broader community infrastructure.
