China Hosts World Intelligence Expo 2026 in Tianjin

China launched the World Intelligence Expo 2026 in Tianjin to showcase AI integration in manufacturing and foster international technological cooperation.

The World Intelligence Expo 2026 opened on May 28 in Tianjin, China, co-hosted by the municipal governments of Tianjin and Chongqing. The four-day event features over 700 exhibitors across 130,000 square meters, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence into traditional industries via the "AI+ manufacturing" initiative. The expo includes seven zones covering embodied AI, the low-altitude economy, and commercial space exploration, with more than 200 new products and research reports scheduled for release.

The Government of China is driving this transformation through its "AI Plus" initiative, aiming to expand the commercial application of intelligent terminals across key sectors. Officials, including the head of the National Data Administration, emphasized the need for high-quality industry datasets in shipbuilding, petrochemicals, and automobile manufacturing to fuel intelligent upgrades. The scale of adoption is significant, with China accounting for 61 percent of global daily token consumption and Tianjin's AI industries generating over 300 billion yuan in operating revenue.

The event also serves as a diplomatic hub for international cooperation. The United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan participated as key partners to explore joint ventures in fintech, medical technology, and the digital economy. Multinational executives from Europe and Denmark characterized China as a global innovation engine and a critical testing ground for automated production systems.
