A signalling fault at Manea caused widespread disruption across the Greater Anglia rail network on September 1, 2026. The technical failure led to delays and short-notice schedule changes that lasted until approximately 7:15 p.m., forcing several services to terminate or originate at Ely. Specifically, the 4 p.m. service from Ipswich to Peterborough ended at Ely, while the 5:52 p.m. service from Peterborough to Colchester began at Ely.

The disruption extended beyond Greater Anglia, affecting services operated by Cross Country and East Midlands Railway. To assist stranded passengers, Greater Anglia coordinated ticket acceptance with both East Midlands Railway and Cross Country for routes connecting Norwich, Peterborough, Cambridge, and Stansted Airport.

Greater Anglia implemented a compensation scheme for passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more and permitted advance ticket holders to use alternative trains if their original services were cancelled.
