J.T. Young Warns U.S. AI Leadership Risks

Author J.T. Young warns that the United States is risking its global leadership in artificial intelligence due to internal efforts to curtail AI and data center development. Young argues that the Chinese Communist Party is actively pursuing AI supremacy to gain global leverage, mirroring its current dominance in rare earth minerals.

Young contends that CCP control of AI would be dangerous, citing China's history of lax scientific oversight, internal repression of Uyghurs and Tibetans, and external aggression toward Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines. He specifically criticizes Senator Bernie Sanders for supporting measures to limit U.S. AI development, claiming such actions effectively cede leadership to an unaccountable government that already employs AI for mass surveillance.

While the federal government of the United States faces internal opposition to expansion, some state leaders are pursuing different strategies. Governor Pat Morrisey is currently promoting West Virginia as a hub for responsible AI data center development to counter these national trends.
